Every year in France, in March –April, a cultural event named “le Printemps des poètes" gives free rein to personal creativity: numerous happenings everywhere in the country, such as exhibitions, public lectures, posters, all with one common point: Poetry. Thus, to all of you who are here to learn French in Provence with us, one single moto: express your sensitivity!

French immersion course’s great on the Riviera

Learners of French in France love the mediterranean sea

“It’s fabulous here, even in winter time one can practice wind-surfing almost every day!” Enthusiastic Swiss sports teacher doesn’t find strong enough words to express her delight. And she’s right, for this year is particularly sunny and nice, but with just enough wind at Almanarre Beach to make wind-surfing a pleasure. Even the temperature of sea water is slightly higer than usual; but in any case, our girl is not afraid of cold water for she’s such an experienced surfer that she rarely falls, arousing the admiration of all her fellow-students at Elfca French language school on the Riviera.

Movie for students of French language course

Learners of French in France discover “les ch’tis”

Recently a movie was a great hit in France, and that was a big surprise as no stars performed in it and it wasn’t either a big budget production; no fashionable topic either, such as violence, or money, or power, or sex . No, just a comedy based on the antinomy between north and south of France, a non-exhaustive catalogue of the commonplaces that give a wrong idea of both, and according to our students, a delightful movie. “I think it’s been years since I laughed so much!” confessed Canadian engineer who is taking a French immersion course in the South of France.

“Spring’s back” rejoices participant to French language course

Learners of French in France abandon winter clothes

With 22°C at 3PM, this beginning of March rang the knell of winter dressing. Last week at Saturday morning market on Place Clemenceau and Avenue Clotis, the stalls displayed rainbows of joyful colours, dazzling white, tender pink and hard blue. It made the passers-by smile and look happier. Women and girls couldn’t resist the miniskirts and sleeveless tops; and the following Monday, there was a true fashion parade at Elfca, French language school on the Provencal Riviera.

Learners of French in south of France puzzled by local elections

No big change where French language school is located

Municipal Elections are over in France and once more the French’s choices showed a desire to change the trend of politics. That fact intrigued the foreigners who were taking a French immersion course during the election period, and it was the starting point of many debates and discussions in class and also at many host families’. One thing actually puzzled our students: “Why do people change their minds so often in this country?” “Well, now you understand why the French are said to be ungovernable!” was the amused answer of teacher at French language school on the Mediterranean coast.

Chocolates at French language school in the South of France

Learners of French in France eat Easter eggs.

Like every spring at Elfca French language school, at the end of March  the Directors treated their students with baskets full of chocolate eggs and other Easter sweets. “So delicious to eat and so awful to get rid of once they’ve turned into fat on your hips!”commented Swiss girl taking a second helping with a strong feeling of guilt. But no one else appeared to have the same scruples among those who take a French immersion course on the French Riviera!
