They come to learn French in France and discover swifts

Students of French taking “l’apero” on the terrace with their host family marvelled at the hundreds of swifts that suddenly invaded the sky at twighlight, performing a gracefull ballet, drawing loopings and sometimes diving vertically at incredible speed towards the people seated round the table only avoiding them at the very last second!

“Spring sees them back” explained the hosts to their guests, who learn French at ELFCA language school.

Sweet souvenirs for teachers at French language school in the South of France

Teachers of French in France remember their youth

Hyeres’ Casino des Palmiers recently welcomed Michel Legrand, a great artist of French music, composer, singer and jazz musician. His melodies and soundtracks - les parapluies de Cherbourg, les demoiselles de Rochefort…- are known by everyone in France and most of the audience hummed the tunes with him, which delighted the foreigners who had come with their teacher at Elfca French language school on the Mediterranean coast.

Students of French in France at Corsican culture fair

Insular gastronomy appreciated by learners of French in France

For three days Corsica was celebrated at Espace 3000, through its culture, music and of course gastronomic specialities. As usual, the concerts, films, lectures and cooking exhibitions attracted a lot of people from Hyeres, but as well from Toulon and Saint-Tropez areas, and also many of those who learn French in Provence at Elfca.

Students at French language school discover Christmas traditions

13 desserts for participants to French language immersion programme

A lecture about Christmas traditions in Provence recently surprised students at French language school. First, they could hardly understand why Christmas Eve dinner is called “Gros souper” (big supper) when it’s a meatless meal! And then, they marvelled at the “13 desserts”. Thus they were offered those in a “faouque” (traditional Provencal cork dish) at coffee break by directors of Elfca French language school in Provence.

Night thunderstorm above French language school in the South of France

Learners of French in France couldn’t believe it!

In the middle of the night, on Sunday 22nd November, everyone on the Riviera was waken up by a spectacular storm. The north wind blew up to 100mls/h, and a deafening thunderstorm illuminated the sky non-stop for several hours! Trees were uprooted in the streets, masts were broken in small ports like Les Lecques or La Londe and many roofs were carried away; a unique occurrence which astonished everyone including the foreigners who learn

French in the South of France.

More theatre for those who learn French in France

Students at French language school in Provence liked Horovitz’s play.

A group of learners of French decided some days ago to devote an evening to a cultural activity. They went to theatre, at Hyeres lovely Italian style Theatre Denis hall. The play was “Lebensraum” from Israel Horovitz, one of the most popular American writers in France. The evening was a total success - although some of them confessed they didn’t understand everything – for the group of  foreigners who study French on the Cote d’Azur.
