A surprise for those who think only students take a French language course in France

At ELFCA French language school, learners are quite different from what one could imagine; coming from all over the world, their ages vary from sixteen to seventy plus and their motivations are just as multiple: besides academic or carreer purposes, some simply come because they like holidaying in France and would love to have better exchanges with French people, others have decided to settle here either to start a new working life or just to retire, and need to communicate easily with the locals, some just realize a youth dream, more than one have fallen in love with a French partner etc..., but all are strongly united in the same eagerness to learn French!

Fans of Jimi Hendrix at French language school in Provence

Learners of French in France don’t look down on jazz

Guitar player Nguyen Le laughs at labels. From the National Jazz Orchestra to Ultramarine, from “Tales from Viet Nam” to “Maghreb & Friends”, he keeps going from one culture to the other, from style to style. With his spectacle “Celebrating Jimi Hendrix” at Hyeres Casino, he linked jazz to new electronic musics and world music; a mixing that raised the enthusiasm of participants to French language immersion program in the South of France.

The “Salon du bien-vivre” is not only turned to comfort and physical well-being ; it proposes to consider all angles of “well-living”, from fashion to gastronomy, with Italy as guest of honour, and specialities of both countries such as wines, olive-oil, cheeses, foie-gras etc…

As Christmas is getting near, a lot of those items were bought as gifts by students at French language school on the Mediterranean coast.

Autumn sails for learners of French in the South of France

French language immersion program near Saint-Tropez

“Voiles d’automne” (Autumn sails), in Saint-Tropez: two days of regattas in the famous bay, just to enjoy autumn weather conditions, with the sea a little bit rougher and the wind often capricious. No prestigious yachts, only sixty or so fine sailing ships from seven to sixteen meter long. “Very sporty and quite technical” was the comment of a group of sail lovers who learn French language on the French Riviera.

Aioli for those who study French in the South of France

Students of French language school at olive fete

The lovely Provencal village of La Farlede recently organized its first “Fete de l’olivier et de l’huile nouvelle”, i.e. olive-tree and olive-oil fete: a big market but also walks, guided visits of the olive plantations, meals and an aioli contest! Aioli is the Provencal sauce made with egg yolk, garlic and olive oil, that gave its name to the dish it’s eaten with (boiled vegetables, cod, snails, mussels and hard boiled eggs); “Delicious, but don’t try to kiss a girl after that!” said Swiss man staying in Hyeres to learn French in the South of France.
