Wine tasting for students of French language school in south of France

The small town of La Londe, six klms away from Hyeres, organizes a “Fête des vins” at the end of April. A gourmet lunch prepared by local chefs, packed in a picnic basket, that one can enjoy seated at a table at “l’Argentiere Plage”, or just sitting on the beach facing Porquerolles island; and then one can join a wine tasting route in town center: you only need to buy a stamped glass that you will keep as a souvenir, and then you can taste wines from La Londe, Hyeres and Bormes. Many of those who study French language in Hyeres will participate!

Bill discussed at French language school

Learners of French in France pro wine-tasting

In order to prevent teens’ alcoholism, French parliament is debating a bill which, if voted, would forbid all kind of free or unlimited alcoholic drinks offering. This bill aimed at a Grandes Ecoles tradition called open bar evenings, during which students use to drink very heavily. But it finally excluded free wine tasting in cellars, to the great relief of wine growers and also of foreigners taking French language course in France!

A great spectacle that persuaded some students to add a fun board course to their French immersion program in Provence.

Learners of French in France prefer bouillabaisse

Important culinary issue at French language school in Provence

“What is the difference between bourride and bouillabaisse” students of French school asked.

Well, both are based on fish and sea fruits, and have a strong taste of garlic, but that’s about all they have in common! Bouillabaisse requests coloured rock fish, while bourride uses only “white” fish, the former includes tomatoes, herbs, saffron and spices…and is “much tastier!” concluded students who learn French in France on the Riviera.

Learners of French in Provence admire 24 heures du Mans prototypes

The Castellet circuit has just re-opened after ten years closing. For the first event, more than 4000 spectators had gathered to hear the thundering of the engines and the screeching of tyres on the asphalt and re-experience the emotions of the past. Among the public, a few Formula 1 amateurs had come from Hyeres, where they study French on the Riviera.
