Welcome to French immersion Program

June is a month favoured by many US universities to send their students abroad, and of course Elfca French language school is proud to have their groups regularly. This year’s a good one in spite of dollar weakness, and lately we had the pleasure of receiving more than 30 New-Yorkers, all equally enthusiastic and curious of French culture, food and art de vivre. The “Autour de Coltrane” night at Theatre Denis gathered a lot of spectators for the closing of the Jazz Festival: Symbol of the purest freedom for all musicians, John Coltrane continues to move, inspire and fascinate in France too, even 40 years after his death. And once more, his music made the crowd vibrate, and among the most enthusiastic ones were some Elfca students who learn French in the south of France at present.

Money money money, Dancing queen, Super trouper, Knowing me knowing you, Gimme gimme ….. and many more! The super show “Mama mia”, a worldwide success, was on in Monaco for a week, and although it’s 2hour drive from Hyeres and rather expensive (around 70 euros for a good seat), a group of our students decided to go. They came back delighted though a bit nostalgic: “ It has brought back to me the most carefree time of my life!” commented one of those who study French on the Riviera.

Daniel Auteuil a good teacher for participants to French language course

In his last movie, Daniel Auteuil plays the role of a modest clerk whose mind is inhabited by a dead man’s. A good satire of office life, telling the story of an employee in love with his boss, a bit long from time to time, but altogether a very funny movie…. “And Daniel Auteuil’s diction is really perfect for a foreigner to understand” appreciated participant to French language immersion program.

On June 24^th, Saint John’s Day was celebrated with particular splendor in La Seyne, a city located in the suburbs of Toulon: a son et lumiere spectacle preceeding the fireworks, and then the traditional Saint-John’s fires, all that taking place on La Seyne main square, “Place Victor Schoelcher”; and teacher had to explain that Schoecher was the man who obtained the abolition of slavery in the French West Indies, which really interested students at French language school in the South of France
