Recently, a flower story aroused a lot of emotion at Elfca French language school. Foreigners who learn French in France discover Provencal saffron

A very confidential farming is back in the Var department. Saffron, the “red gold”, or “gold powder” (50euro/gr.), had been produced in the area for centuries, but the French Revolution, together with a succession of very cold winters and World War 1 had caused this farming to be abandoned. Two families in Montmeyan have just given a new start to the delicate cultivation of “crocus sativus” and their organic saffron is now considered as one of the best in the world. Foreigners who learn French in the South of France tried it in the fish soup at host family’s and found it very fragrant.

French language school at fashion exhibition

Quite fascinating exhibition at Forum du Casino in Hyeres les Palmiers. Entitled “the evolution of fashion from 1900 to 1930”, it presented the changes in clothing of course, but also, more underlying, the deep upheavals in ways of living and of thinking that marked that period. The visit was much appreciated by students at French language school on the Riviera.
