The town of Hyeres is proud of its many green spaces, among which the Jardin Sainte-Claire.

This park is situated on the hillside, near the ruins of Hyeres medieval castle, surrounding the graceful “Castel Sainte-Claire” built by Colonel Olivier Voutier,whose grave can be seen in the park; and this Colonel is also the man who had the statue of the “Venus” sent to the Louvre museum in Paris, after its discovery in the island of Milo. “A kind of hero”, commented student learning French in France at Elfca
