Saint Nicolas comes to French language school on French Riviera
Learners of French discover the Provencal “faouque”
16th December gave Elfca’s students the opportunity to discover a different way of celebrating Saint Nicolas’ Day. The school Directors offered a “faouque”(large cork serving dish) filled with the traditional “13 desserts de Noel”: the “four beggars”- walnuts, almonds, hazelnuts and figs – dark and white nougat, tangerines, anise biscuits, dates, raisins, peanuts, candied fruits and special Christmas chocolates called “papillotes” wrapped in bright paper containing a Christmas cracker; lots of laugh and feigned fright for all the participants to French language course in South of France. |
