Types of French language course

General intensive French courses

22 hours per week (8.30 to 12.30 + afternoon options twice a week 13.30 to 14.30)

Intensive-plus French courses

20 hours per week general intensive course in the morning, plus 10 hours per week individual course in the afternoon (13.30 to 15.30)

Individual French courses

  • 20 hours per week private tuition
  • 30 hours per week private tuition

French language diplomas

On completion of your course, ELFCA will deliver a certificate indicating the dates of the training, the number of hours of tuition and the level achieved based on the standards of the Common Reference Language Framework set by the Council of Europe.

TEF

ELFCA is a recognized test centre for the TEF, "test d'évaluation de français" of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. TEF has become a reference in terms of education and certification.

CSN

ELFCA has received CSN accreditation from the Swedish authorities.

BILDUNGSURLAUB

ELFCA is recognized by the Hamburg authorities (Germany) to deliver Bildungsurlaub certificates (see conditions in the "News" section of this website)

Programmes

Lessons are held Monday to Friday except on French national holidays.
  • average 8 students per class, maximum 12.
  • 6 to 10 different levels, from elementary to advanced.
  • we do not have a class for complete beginners. If you have absolutely no knowledge of French, you can take an individual course before joining our elementary class.
  • oral and written evaluation on arrival in order to test your skills and place you in the right class.
  • serious and well-structured programmes will enable you to develop all 4 skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.
  • motivation and curiosity are stimulated by using a wide range of different exercises on grammar structures, video films, discussions, vocabulary, newspaper articles, French songs, role-plays etc...
  • large variety of themes for the afternoon options: political and social life in France, French literature, French regions, French history, French cuisine, French wines, slang and colloquial French etc...
  • general intensive and intensive-plus courses can also prepare for the DELF-1st degree examinations: students can take the DELF tests in a DELF exam centre in our area if the dates allow for it, or alternatively take them in their own country (Cultural Services of their French Embassy will advise them of the dates).
  • intensive-plus courses are meant for those who do not have a lot of time or who have a particular need (i.e. for an exam or a new job...) or who want to insist on a particular skill (listening, writing business letters...).

Entry is possible any Monday  (or Tuesday when Monday is bank holiday)

holidays : : ELFCA will close from Dec 15, 2007 to Jan 21, 2008 and from Dec 20, 2008 to Jan 26, 2009

TEF - 2008 test dates at ELFCA:

29 February – 28 March – 25 April – 30 May – 27 June – 26 September – 31 October – 28 November – 19 December

A cocktail party is offered each month by ELFCA for students, teachers and staff.

ELFCA will be closed on the following bank holidays:

N.B. The weekly price for tuition depends on the length of the course.

Example : General Intensive course
If you enrol for 2 weeks, price will be 560 euros (2x280)
If you enrol for 4 weeks, price will be 1000 euros (4x250)
If you enrol for 9 weeks, price will be 2025 euros (9x225) etc...
